More than $1 million worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized in a traffic stop on Interstate 10 last week, Tucson police said.
According to court records, investigators from the Counter Narcotics Alliance were targeting illegal drug transportation into Southern Arizona Wednesday when they stopped a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Martin De La Torre.
During a search of the vehicle, investigators say they found nearly 260,000 fentanyl pills and more than six pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a compartment in floorboards of the pickup truck, an interim complaint filed in Superior Court stated.
About 42% of the pills tested contained potentially lethal levels of fentanyl, according the DEA.
De La Torre was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a dangerous drug and unlawful possession of narcotics for sale, according to court records.
