A man shot and killed his wife and then himself Thursday at a home on Tucson's southwest side, police say.

The Tucson Police Department gave the following account in a news release Friday:

A 911 call came in about 12 p.m. April 25 reporting a shooting at a home in the 300 block of West Placita Durango near West Bilby Road.Β

When officers arrived they went into the home and found a man and a woman with signs of gunshot trauma. Karla Maria Krafft, 37, and Esaul Duarte Sotelo, 39, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sotelo and Krafft were married and lived together in the home.

"Earlier that day, during an argument, Esaul Sotelo retrieved a gun and shot Ms. Krafft, before turning the gun on himself," homicide detectives determined. "Detectives are continuing the investigation, and are calling the shooting an apparent murder/suicide."
