Tucson police have identified a man killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month.
Christopher Thomas Bechtel, 53, was struck about 10 p.m. Nov. 3 as he crossed East Broadway just east of North Kolb Road, Tucson police have said.
Christopher Flores Cañez, 26, has been arrested in connection with the crash.
Nearly an hour after the crash, a 911 caller reported several people pushing a broken Chevrolet Tahoe into a gas station parking lot near South Houghton and East Golf Links roads. Witnesses identified Cañez as the sole occupant of the vehicle, which had damage consistent with being involved in a collision, a complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court says.
He was cited for suspicion of DUI and released. But investigators later connected Cañez to the wreck.
Cañez was arrested on suspicion of a fatal hit-and-run and booked into the Pima County jail.
