TUCSON, Ariz. — Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Sector's Sonoita Station have seized more than 1,100 pounds of marijuana worth more than $500,000 and arrested a Benson woman.

They say an agent stopped a vehicle on State Route 83 north of Sonoita for an immigration inspection about 5 a.m. Thursday.

While questioning the driver, the agent noticed a piece of black plywood separating the cabin from the rest of the vehicle.

The agent subsequently searched the vehicle with a drug-sniffing dog and discovered 50 bundles of marijuana in the back.

The bundles were seized and the woman arrested on suspicion of smuggling a controlled substance.

The name and age of the woman weren't immediately released.
