A Pinal County couple faces child abuse charges after deputies say they abandoned their toddler at home to play "Pokemon Go."
The parents, Brent Daley, 27, and Brianne Daley, 25 were arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and child neglect, according to a news release from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies say the a neighbor of the San Tan Valley couple called 911 about 10:30 p.m. Thursday after she found a 2-year-old toddler crying outside. He was wearing only a diaper and a T-shirt. The tot was described in the news release as red-faced, sweaty and dirty.
Deputies got into the house and used family photos to confirm it was where the tot lived, the release said. When deputies called a phone number to the person they believed was the toddler’s father and said he was found abandoned, the man replied “whatever,” and hung up, the news release said.
The pair was arrested when they returned to the house about an hour after deputies arrived.
Later the couple told deputies the boy was left home alone asleep while they wandered nearby neighborhoods looking for "Pokemon Go" characters. Deputies estimate the boy was alone for at least 90 minutes, the release said.
