A man led deputies to a buried body Thursday in a desert area off North Oracle Road, near Las Lomitas Road, on the Tucson area's northwest side.
Deputies were at the scene of the discovery, which was reported at about 5 p.m., said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
"The man had information and was able to lead deputies to the area where the body was located," said Inglett.
The deceased was a man and he was buried in a desert area in the 5800 block of North Oracle Road, said Inglett.
The area is north of East River Road, on the east side of Oracle.
Homicide detectives were investigating the case and still questioning the man who came forth with the information late Thursday.
After the body is exhumed it will be turned over to the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, Inglett said.
Investigators did not release how long the body was believed to be buried, or the circumstances that led to the burial. Authorities also did not release how the man, who led authorities to the body, knew of its whereabouts.
