Tucson police are searching for the suspect in a Thursday afternoon double shooting on Tucson's west side that left one man dead and another injured, authorities said.

Police received reports of a shooting victim in the area of West 36th Street and South Mission Road, shortly before 5 p.m., and found an adult male with obvious signs of gunshot trauma, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Officers began performing first aid on the man, who told them that both he and his friend had been shot in his Dodge Ram truck by a man that he'd picked up in the area, Bay said.

Although the man was able to escape, the suspect left in his truck with the second victim.

Tucson Fire Department arrived and transported the man to Banner University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers immediately began searching for the truck, trying to locate the suspect and the second shooting victim. Robbery detectives responded to the scene, and learned that the suspect was an acquaintance of the victims', and they'd picked him up to give him a ride. While driving westbound on 36th Street, the suspect demanded the driver's keys, then shot both men.

The driver fled from the vehicle and hid until the truck left and he was able to seek help at a nearby apartment complex, Bay said.

Several hours later, officers located the truck in a desert area north of 36th Street and South Greasewood Road, and found the second victim dead inside with obvious signs of gunshot trauma, Bay said.

He's been identified as 30-year-old Uriel Galvez-Galvez.

The suspect is described as standing about 5'11" tall, weighing between 170 and 180 pounds, with multiple tattoos on his arms. He's believed to be in his mid to late-20s and was last seen wearing a white shirt and tan pants.

Anyone with information on the incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
