More than 150 Arizona fugitives were arrested during a three-day U.S. Marshals operation, involving state, local and federal law enforcement agencies, officials said.
"Operation Grinch Stopper 2016" took place across the state Dec. 13 through 15, and targeted fugitives with outstanding warrants for robbery, burglary, theft, larceny and drugs, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Nathan Warner.
The operation was created after a Nov. 2012 shooting of a Tucson police sergeant who was responding to a burglary alarm. The shooting, which the officer survived, resulted in the Marshal's increased focus on property crimes, especially during the holiday season when they're known to increase, Warner said.
During this year's operation, in addition for the outstanding warrants, officers also arrested 18 assault suspects, 6 sex offenders and three suspects wanted for homicide, Warner said.
Douglas resident Adrianna Christian Figueroa, 28, was among those arrested for her alleged involvement in a home invasion.
She's also facing charges of first degree burglary, nine counts of assault with a deadly weapon three counts of armed robbery and a kidnapping charge, Warner said.
More than 35 agencies participated in the operation, including Tucson police, Marana Police Department, Oro Valley Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
"I'm very appreciative of the additional enforcement support from our other law enforcement partners... in combating these types of crime and helping to improve the quality of life for our community members," said Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus.
