Culinary Dropout pretzels

Housemade pretzel bites. Yummy, but best to share among three people.

While some people think of appetizers as the precursor to a great meal, for others, they're a meal all on their own.

But whether they're a starter or the main course, everyone can agree that appetizers should always be mouthwatering.

Best Things Arizona has come up with a list of the 10 best restaurants for appetizers in Arizona, and three of them are in Tucson.

Culinary Dropout is the first spot to make the list, with a new Tucson location that just opened in the old Grant Road Lumber building last month.

"Their happy hour menu includes decadent choices like pork belly nachos, smoked salmon bruschetta, and antipasti and cheese plates," Best Things says in the article. "Really, though, this hotspot is all about one item: the pretzels and fondue."

The next Tucson spot to make the list is Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails, which offers a wide variety of flavors around the world.

Best Things says that the best way to experience all the flavors is to try out the restaurant's wide range of appetizers.

"Their tasty options include lambs tongue taco, crisp-fried frog legs, beef meatballs, grilled garlic and mushroom bread, and pork belly donuts," according to Best Things.

Union Public House is the last Tucson spot to land on the list, with Best Things saying that in addition to "sports bar favorites," Union Public House also offers "stellar seafood selections like oysters, mussels, and the poke stack."
