TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities used a state police helicopter to rescue three people trapped by flash flooding at Tanque Verde Falls in Redington Pass near Tucson, the latest in a series of recent flash flooding incidents in Arizona.
Pima County sheriff's Deputy Cody Gress says two adults and a 5-year-old child were rescued Tuesday evening after authorities got a call reporting that three people were unable to get across the water.
Approximately 35 hikers were airlifted out of Sabino Canyon recreation area on Sunday. Previously, 17 people were rescued July 23 from Tanque Verde Falls and 10 members of an extended family died in July 15 flooding in the Tonto National Forest in east-central Arizona.
