For the 89th year, horses will trot and buggies will roll through south-side streets Thursday as part of the Tucson Rodeo Parade.
The event, billed as the largest non- motorized parade in the country, boasts nearly 440 entries ranging from local companies and organizations to high school marching bands and local politicians.
KOLD News 13 anchor Dan Marries will be the grand marshal.
The parade starts at 9 a.m. on Ajo Way near Fair Avenue, heads east to Park Avenue, turns south on Park Avenue, west on Irvington Road and north on Sixth Avenue to the north end of the Tucson Rodeo Grounds.
Most roads will close at 7 a.m. Westbound Irvington will remain open until 8 a.m. There will be no eastbound traffic allowed on Irvington.
Tickets in the grandstands on Irvington, near the end of the route, are still available and can be purchased in advance at the Tucson Rodeo Parade Office, 4823 S. Sixth Ave., or at the ticket booths near the grandstands the day of the parade.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children.
