Pima Community College is seeking feedback on dozens of proposals aimed at making sure its educational programs are relevant and meet student and community needs.
A public forum to discuss more than 50 recommendations by consultants takes place Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at PCC’s 29th Street Coalition Center, 4355 E. Calle Aurora.
The proposals call for new programs or new locations and other changes, including:
- A future new joint location for culinary arts, tourism, hotel and restaurant management and retail and customer management.
- Eventual relocation of veterinary programs and pharmacy technology from PCC’s East Campus to the West Campus, where many health-related programs are located.
- Upgrades to the industry, manufacturing, construction and transportation areas, which now have many facilities that are “completely inadequate” for the programs being offered.
- “Mandatory online readiness” testing for students who enroll in online or hybrid classes, to help the “large number” of students who are “ill-equipped to engage in online learning.”
The consultants, Smithgroup JJR and Paulien & Associates, will give a presentation on a draft of the college’s proposed new educational master plan.
