U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy will deliver the commencement address at the University of Arizona on May 13.

Murthy, 38, is a leading voice on public health and oversees uniformed health officers serving in the U.S. Public Health Service.

Murthy became surgeon general in December 2014 when the U.S. Senate confirmed his appointment by President Obama.

Murthy is the youngest person to serve as surgeon general. The son of Indian immigrants is also the first Indian-American to hold the position.

The Yale School of Medicine graduate is a co-founder of several medical organizations, including an HIV-AIDS education program and a nonprofit organization that advocates for access for affordable, quality health care.

The commencement ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at Arizona Stadium.
