Steve Leal, a former member of the Tucson City Council, is in the hospital recovering from heart attack.
Leal had the heart attack Wednesday night. Doctors at St. Mary's Hospital put in aΒ cardiac catheter Thursday afternoon, andΒ Leal's condition is considered to be stable, said friend Martha McGrath.
Leal, a Democrat, served five terms on the City Council before deciding in 2008 against seeking a sixth term. He was first elected in 1989.Β
More recently, Leal has been hosting a political podcast. His weekly podcast is part of a series of shows offered by Tucson Progressive Media.
