A fire Tuesday morning in a midtown apartment complex displaced several residents.
Just after 6 a.m. firefighters were called to the 1600 block of North Wilmot Road, north of East Speedway, for reports of black smoke, said Capt. Andrew Skaggs, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.
Crews confirmed a fire burning on a second-floor balcony. Crews evacuated surrounding units and began fighting the blaze from the outside. Other crews cut ventilation holes in the roof.
It took about 30 firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire destroyed two apartment united and damaged four others, Skaggs said.
A missing cat was found in a downstairs unit and reunited with its owner.
There were no injuries to firefighters or residents, Skaggs said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimate was available.
