Flowing Wells voters approved its school district's request for a 10 percent maintenance and operations budget override.Β

The override would generate $2.5 million annually for five years for the district that serves more than 6,000 students. It is a continuation of an existing override that is expiring.Β

"IΒ think the district feels incredibly fortunate to have received the support again from our community," Superintendent David Baker said Wednesday afternoon.

The top priorities for the money generated by the override would be to hire more teachers and keep class sizes smaller, fund full-day kindergarten and arts, physical education and technology programs, Baker said in a previous interview.
