The three-floor Banner – University Medicine North occupies 13 acres at 3838 N. Campbell Ave., just east of the cancer center. The clinic, which officially opens Dec. 28, was designed to replace a multitude of cramped and aging clinics within Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, two miles south at 1501 N. Campbell Ave.
The relocation of outpatient clinics from the hospital to Banner – University Medicine North is the first step in Banner Health’s half-billion-dollar makeover of the Tucson academic medical center, which was built in the 1970s, Banner officials say.
Construction of a new, $400 million, nine-story hospital tower to replace the older sections of the hospital is well underway on the Banner – UMC campus. The tower is expected to open in April 2019.
