The presentation of the final recount tally in the race for Pima County Sheriff will be on Friday, a judge has ruled.

The presentation to certify and read the results of the general election recount in the race between Sheriff Chis Nanos and his challenger Heather Lappin, was moved up a week by Pima County Superior Court judge Kyle Bryson, according to a news release from the county elections office.

It was initially set for Dec. 13, but the Pima County Attorney’s office sought an earlier deadline.

The presentation of the final results will now occur at 10 a.m. Friday, the judge decided, the release said.

Nanos, the Democratic incumbent, led Republican Heather Lappin by 495 votes, or just over 0.1% β€” 243,860 to 243,365 β€” out of 487,225 ballots cast in the race between them, the election results shows.

The race results were so close that it triggered an automatic recount.

The Pima County Elections Department finished its recount Nov. 27, which involved rerunning the 518,595 ballots processed for the election through the tabulation machines.

Because the election involved a two-card ballot, more than 1 million cards that had to be run through the tabulators for the recount, the release said.
