Tucson police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of East Golf Links and South Swan roads, Saturday.
Francisco Santos Dorame, 36, was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with serious physical injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Officers and Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to the report of the collision just before 6 p.m. Saturday night, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers located an injured male inside an overturned 1997 Ford Ranger. The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers determined that the other vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision, the release said.
Detectives were able to determine that the injured driver was headed westbound on Golf Links Road on a green light through the intersection, when Dorame, who was traveling eastbound in a maroon 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, cut off several vehicles to turn northbound onto Swan Road and broadsided the Ranger.
The collision caused the Ranger to roll and land on its roof on the northwest curb of the intersection, according to the news release.
At that point, Dorame left the scene.
Shortly before 9 p.m., TPD received a report of a stolen maroon Dodge Ram truck and, upon speaking to the reporting party, learned that the truck owner was advised to report the truck stolen.
Detectives determined that the truck was not stolen and that Dorame was its last known driver.
TPD was able to get in touch with Dorame, who subsequently turned himself into police without incident.
He provided the location of the truck, in an open lot on the southwest corner of East Broadway and South Rosemont Boulevard.
