A 53-year-old man died in a house fire earlier this month southwest of Tucson, authorities said.

The fire was reported shortly after 8 a.m. Sept. 9, in the 11000 block of South Annemarie Drive, near Three Points, about 28 miles southwest of Tucson.

The body of Shawn Butierez was found inside, a news release Tuesday from the Pima County Sheriff's Department said.

Investigators say Butierez had been unable to escape the blaze and died of smoke inhalation, the release said.

Detectives said there were no suspicious circumstances to the start of the fire.
