The fire lasted into Friday night, authorities said.

Northwest Fire District crews have fully extinguished a green waste fire after battling it for more than 24 hours near the 5300 block of West Ina Road.

A mulching machine caught fire and spread to piles of vegetation near the machine, the district said. Heavy smoke could be seen throughout the area.

Northwest fire crews described it as a "deep seated fire" which required heavy machinery to move vegetation so firefighters could extinguish the flames.

The fire gained intensity on Friday night, the district said. Fire crews and heavy machine operators worked throughout the night to reduce it. Β

Smoke was still visible near the area on Saturday morning and early afternoon.

No buildings were threatened, the fire district said.
