Special Olympics Torch Run

Runners representing the Tucson Police Department are escorted along North Oracle Road as they arrive at Tucson Mall to complete their leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on Wednesday.

The Oro Valley Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety are teaming up with El Charro to raise money for the Special Olympics.

On Wednesday, Aug. 16, OVPD officers and DPS troopers will assist the El Charro waitstaff in serving meals and collect “tips” to be used as donations to benefit Special Olympics Arizona, according to an OVPD news release.

The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. at the El Charro located at 7725 N. Oracle Road.

Special Olympics Arizona provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual abilities.
