2016 All Souls Procession

Marchers commemorating the souls of deceased loved ones will walk through the Menlo Park and Hollywood neighborhoods.

The new All Souls Procession route will take the beloved annual event through Tucson’s Menlo Park and Barrio Hollywood neighborhoods Sunday evening.

To accommodate the massive march, which attracted more than 150,000 people last year, the following roads will be closed from 3 p.m. through 10 p.m.:

  • North Grande Avenue from West Speedway south to West St. Mary’s Road.
  • St. Mary’s from Grande east to the frontage road.
  • North Bonita Avenue from St. Mary’s south to Congress Street.
  • Congress from the frontage road to Grande.

Delays are expected in the area, and city officials recommend that motorists plan accordingly.

The procession will start just south of Speedway on Grande, an area that has “limited parking lot spots,” according to a city release. Officials are asking attendees to not park in Menlo Park or Barrio Hollywood. Instead, marchers and spectators are encouraged to park downtown and take Sun Tran buses from the Ronstadt Center to the start and the Sun Link streetcar back after it concludes. Hotel Congress will also be running a shuttle from its face-painting event.

Sun Tran routes 22, 21, 3 all leave from Ronstadt and head toward the procession. Route 5 will also take riders to the route.

The following are the four downtown parking garages that will be open during the weekend:

  • Centro, 345 E. Congress St.
  • Depot Plaza, 45 N. Fifth Ave.
  • Library, 45 W. Alameda St.
  • City-State, 498 W. Congress St.

Here are the downtown lots that will also be available for parking:

  • Toole Lot, 201 E. Toole Ave.
  • Triangle Lot, 225 E. Pennington St.
  • Warehouse District Lot, 180 E. Seventh St.
  • Franklin Lot, 50 W. Franklin St.
  • Lots A, B, and C at the Tucson Convention Center.

With thousands expected, officials warn drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution.
