Traffic detectives with the Tucson Police Department investigate a fatal pedestrian crash on East Drexel Road Aug. 25, 2017, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a TPD spokesman.

A pedestrian was killed in a crash Friday night on Tucson's south side that has shut down a portion of East Drexel Road.

Travel east and west on Drexel, between South Country Club Road and Tucson Boulevard is closed, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

The crash occurred before 9 p.m. Aug. 25.

The road is expected to remain closed until 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, according to authorities.

Motorists should use alternative routes.
