Visitors enjoy the chilly waters of Tanque Verde and Sabino Creeks northeast of Tucson in August 2017. Officials warn to always be vigilant of the monsoon weather outlook and storm and flash flood warnings. Sudden monsoon downpours upstream can create dangerous conditions in low-lying areas and narrow canyons. The Pima County Sheriff's Dept., Rural/Metro Fire and Southern Arizona Rescue Association rescued 14 people from a flash flood that enveloped Tanque Verde Falls on Sunday, July 24.
