Tucson police have identified a man struck and killed as he tried to cross North First Avenue Tuesday night.
Robert Alfred, 59, was crossing in the 3300 block of North First Avenue when a southbound Hyundai Santa Fe struck him, police say.
Alfred died at the scene shortly after 6 p.m.
Traffic detectives determined he was not in a crosswalk when the collision occurred.
The driver, who was not injured, remained at the scene to cooperate with detectives. Neither speed nor impairment were a factor in the collision, a Tucson police news release said.
The investigation is ongoing.
