The Red Cross has set up a cooling center on the north side of town to help a mobile home community beat the heat after a power outage.

The organization is providing water, drinks and snacks to help around 20 to 25 families effected by the outage at the Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Community Center, 1660 W. Ruthrauff Rd.

The families, which includes approximately 30 to 40 children, are currently without power at the Desert Sun Mobile Home Park at 1741 W. Wetmore Rd.

Tucson Electric Power crews are working to bring power back to the area, said Mike Sagara, a spokesman for the Red Cross.

He said an estimated time to fix the outage was not given to the organization but they will be set up for the duration of the outage.
