The Arizona Game and Fish Department is warning cyclists who ride on The Loop path to be aware of one or more aggressive coyotes.

There have been multiple calls of aggressive coyote behavior toward cyclists on the popular bike path between Grant Road and Speedway Boulevard since late April, according to the department

On Friday, May 18, one cyclist was even chased within 10 feet, according to a department tweet

The department believes that some of the incidents may be related to denned coyote pups nearby, so they recommend that cyclists riding in the area proceed with caution.

If you are approached or chased by a coyote that appears to be aggressive, be loud, spray it with water and throw any available items you have at hand.

If you see a coyote acting strange or aggressive, the department asks you to report the sights by calling its 24/7 phone line at 623-236-7201
