Three roads on the east side of Saguaro National Park, including the park’s most popular loop, will temporarily close for maintenance starting Monday.

The bulk of the work will take place on Mica View Road and on Camino Loma Alta from the park boundary to the Loma Alta Trailhead, both of which need to be regraded to repair damage from monsoon rains and routine use.

The road leading to Saguaro National Park’s Mica View Picnic Area will be closed for maintenance next week, but the area can still be accessed on foot via the Cactus Forest Trailhead on Broadway.

Those unpaved roads in the park’s Rincon Mountain District are slated to be closed from Monday, Oct. 14 through Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Visitors will still be able to access Mica View Picnic Area during the closure by hiking in from the Cactus Forest Trailhead on Broadway.

Three roads on the east side of Saguaro National Park, including its most popular loop, will temporarily closed this week for maintenance.

To safely move construction equipment and material to the work area on Mica View Road, the park will close the one-way portion of Cactus Forest Loop Drive for the day starting at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The two-way portion of the road from the Visitor Center to Javelina Picnic Area will remain open, and bicyclists and pedestrians who start out on the one-way loop before 6:30 a.m. will be allowed to complete the loop.

All of Cactus Forest Loop Drive is set to reopen on Thursday.
