PHOENIX — Several dozen students staged a sit-in Wednesday afternoon at the office of Gov. Doug Ducey, demanding to speak with him on issues of school gun violence.
Ducey was not at the Capitol "but his staff listened to the students and will brief him on the discussion,'' said gubernatorial press aide Daniel Scarpinato.
Scarpinato also said Ducey is reaching out to various parties interested in the issue to come up with a plan, and already has met with other public school students who were selected by the Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family.
The multi-hour sit-in ended when Rep. Isela Blanc, D-Tempe, urged the students to leave rather than risk arrest.
