The Morris K. Udall and Steward L. Udall Foundation was previously located downtown at 130 S. Scott Ave. When its lease expired in December, it decided to relocate because about half of its employees now work remotely and around the country.

The building on Scott Avenue will be used by the Children’s Museum Tucson to expand.

The Udall Foundation’s mission is to provide programs to promote leadership, education, collaboration and conflict resolution in the areas of environment, public lands and natural resources to strengthen Native nations, assist federal agencies and others to resolve environmental conflicts, and encourage the continued use and appreciation of the nation’s resources, according to its website.

Trinity, at 434 E. University Blvd., allowed the foundation a location within walking distance of the University of Arizona.

“We’re thrilled to see the Udall Foundation move to this new headquarters just blocks away from the Udall Center and expect that being so much closer to one another will make it easier to collaborate on programs, training, and events,” said Stephanie Russo Carroll, acting director of the Udall Center for Studies and Public Policy.

The Udall Foundation’s new headquarters is walking distance to the University of Arizona.

As a new building, Trinity offered the foundation on a built-to-suit workspace with Bourn Cos. and Rob Paulus Architecture.

The Trinity development sits on two sides of Trinity Presbyterian Church on excess land the church sold.

The first phase was the three-story office building. The second phase will be a residential building along Fourth Avenue with apartments and retail.

  • The State of Arizona bought a 57,400-square-foot building at 2202 N. Forbes Blvd. from Holualoa Forbes LLC for $8.2 million to consolidate agencies. Dave Volk, with Volk Co., represented the seller and Vicky Robinson and Christ Corney, with JLL, represented the buyer.
  • Sahuarita Take 5 LLC bought 34,332 square feet of vacant land at 1215 W. Duval Mine Road for $600,000 to open a Take 5 Oil Change shop. Craig Finfrock, with Commercial Retail Advisors, represented the seller, CRI Sahuarita Palms Plaza II LLC, and the buyer.
  • Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona leased 26,691 square feet at 3440 E. Britannia Drive from Britannia Tucson LLC. Jesse Blum, Alex Demeroutis and Bryce Horner, with Picor, represented the landlord.
  • Crumbl Cookies leased 1,300 square feet at Crossroads Festival Shopping Center on Grant and Swan roads. The landlord, Larsen Baker, was represented by its broker Isaac Figueroa and John Buette of Boss Capital Development represented the tenant.
  • Yarrow King leased 1,200 square feet at 2706 N. Silverbell Road to open an African Diaspora dance studio. The landlord, Larsen Baker, was represented by its broker Isaac Figueroa.

Gentle Ben's opened in an old 3-story house at Tyndall Ave. and 2nd St. in 1971. The low-key hangout was a favorite for University of Arizona students who wanted to chat and drink beer. Video by Rick Wiley / Arizona Daily Star 2021
