Damaged CenturyLink lines north of Tucson were repaired late Thursday night, and telephone service was restored to affected areas in Pinal County, including the communities of SaddleBrooke, a CenturyLink spokeswoman said.
Lines were cut in the community of Coronado, which is between Oro Valley and Oracle. The severed lines impacted calls to 911 and internet services, said Karen Parry of CenturyLink.
Residents who were without landline or cellphone service were told to reach out to police, go to fire stations, or drive to the nearest hospital.
During the more than six-hour outage, Golder Ranch Fire District crews were driving in SaddleBrooke neighborhoods and crews were expected to do so until the phone service was restored, said Anne-Marie Braswell, a fire district spokeswoman.
She said crews learned about the problem shortly before 4:30 p.m. Aug. 24 when a SaddleBrooke resident reported the outage at a fire station. The man said his telephone service went out about 3:30 p.m.
Navideh Forghani, a Pinal County Sheriff's spokeswoman, said communities on up to Kearny and San Manuel were impacted.
