As any Tucsonan can attest to, delicious food doesn't have to cost a fortune.
Just in time for summer vacations, long-running magazine Travel + Leisure spoke to Ali Khan, host of the Cooking Channel's series "Cheap Eats," to get the scoop on the best low-priced cuisine in each state.
According to Khan, the best cheap eat in Arizona can be found at a local Tucson favorite that for many, will come as no surprise.
"Ive talked to enough homesick Arizonans to know that they love their version of Mexican food, which makes me keen on trying this popular Tucson Tamale operation," Khan said.
With the two tamale plate costing only $7.69, Khan said that makes the dish a "go-to" for him. (In case you're curious, Khan tried the green chile pork and green corn tamales.)
"Though these aren't the cheapest tamales I have had, they do come with an Alton Brown tweet of approval," Khan said.
