A high of 106 degrees at Tucson International Airport Tuesday broke a record high of 105 set Sept. 12, 1943.

It hit 106 degrees at 3:56 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The low was 75 degrees at 6:23 a.m.

The normal for this time of year is 96 degrees, said Jordan Pegram, a weather service meteorologist. "But a ridge of high pressure is allowing temperatures to warm up pretty nicely throughout the day," Pegram said.

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, the high is expected to hit 101 degrees with a low of 75 degrees, says the weather service.

A bit of a cooling is forecasted for Thursday, Sept. 14, with a high to near 97 degrees. The low is expected at about 69 degrees.
