That is one degree away from the all time record of 117 degrees, says the weather service. The hottest day ever recorded in Tucson was June 26, 1990; the second-hottest was 116 degrees on June 29, 1994.
Today, June 20, it hit 116 at 3:56 p.m.
Motorists beware of blowing dust in the Tucson area, and use caution along Interstate 19.
Expect scattered and isolated showers mostly northeast and south of Tucson into the early evening. Winds may reach up to 50 mph, says the weather service.
