Christy A. Randolph

A Tucson caregiver has been charged with stealing $10,000 from a vulnerable adult and moving him to Florida without permission.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich said Christy A. Randolph has been indicted by a Pima County grand jury on charges of kidnapping, theft and vulnerable adult abuse.

Brnovich said Tucson police responded on July 20 to a report of a 68-year-old man who was missing from an assisted living facility. The man was last seen leaving for church the previous evening. He is a vulnerable adult and requires assistance with daily tasks.

Detectives investigating the case issued a Silver Alert for the missing man and worked with other agencies to locate him in Deltona, Florida, which is northeast of Orlando.

Authorities said Randolph stole more than $10,000 from the man while she was working as his caregiver and then moved him to Florida without permission.

On July 27, U.S. marshals arrested Randolph in Florida. The man was found unharmed and is staying with a relative. His legal guardian is making arrangements to have him returned to Tucson.
