The Ninth House

Christina “CB” Bryan, left, and Robin Doxey are the new owners of The Ninth House metaphysical shop.

The Ninth House, a cherished metaphysical shop in the heart of Tucson, has officially welcomed new owners who promise to breathe new life into the beloved establishment while honoring its history.

Founded in 2018, The Ninth House at 2563 E. Fort Lowell Road has been a go-to destination for seekers of crystals, tarot readings and spiritual guidance. After the previous owner, Melisa Doran, decided to move onto her next venture, she entrusted the shop to local entrepreneurs and friends, Christina “CB” Bryan and Robin Doxey.

CB, an astrologist, reiki healer and sound healer, expressed her excitement about the new venture.

“The Ninth House has always been a magical place for the community,” CB said. “Our goal is to create an even more inclusive space where everyone feels welcome to explore their spiritual journey.”

Robin, who has a background in spiritual healing and is an Akashic Records psychic medium, reiki healer and sound healer, plans to expand the shop’s offerings.

“We’re introducing new workshops and classes, and also hosting more events both free and ticketed to expand our community,” Robin said. “We want to engage the community and provide resources for personal growth.”

The duo met at an astrology class at The Ninth House in 2022, immediately bonding over shared experiences and interests, and their friendship grew. They started attending more classes, eventually working together to teach and host sound bath healings at The Ninth House when the opportunity to take over the space popped up.

“The former owner and founder Melisa Doran is a good friend of ours so when we found out that she was interested in moving onto her next chapter in life, we decided to approach her to basically buy the space from her and take it over,” CB said.

Robin also shared that the takeover was the perfect transition for them and that they want to continue to uphold the spirit of The Ninth House.

“CB and I both had so many shared memories and positive memories here, it was just the perfect fit for us,” Robin said.

The Ninth House metaphysical shop will hold a reopening festival this weekend.

The shop has always had a vibrant personality focused on pagan witchcraft and witch-adjacent supplies, classes and services. The new owners don’t want to change the essence of the brand but look to expand on it instead.

“We are interested in widening the shop to include a more spiritual aspect, with a goal to engage more people through spiritual healing, personal growth and preservation,” CB said.

Their main focus as the new owners is growing the community The Ninth House serves. They plan to uphold their support of local vendors for their products and classes and they hope to expand their reach by holding more free events in the space and by expanding the class offerings to include more spiritual healing such as reiki, breathwork and sound healing.

“We are really interested in providing a space where like-minded people can get support from each other,” Robin said. “We really wanted to create community, freely interact and learn things and make friends, like how CB and I became friends at the shop.”

The new owners have lots of plans for the future of The Ninth House and are excited that the community has and continues to support them and the shop’s legacy.

“We’re going to have festivals, book clubs, an astrology salon, tarot salon and so much more,” Robin said. “We want the community to have a central place to exchange ideas and experiences.”

“The thing I’m most excited about is hearing what the community needs and what we can do to expand and meet those needs,” Robin said. “I feel spoiled by the community and I feel the community that comes in here is beyond supportive of what we will do for The Ninth House.”

The Ninth House’s grand reopening is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 31-Nov. 3 with vendors and events all weekend.

According to the event’s Instagram post, highlights include:

Movie critic Bruce Miller says "Five Nights at Freddy's" is like something you’d find on Nickelodeon over Halloween weekend. It isn't a chilling gore fest. It tests the nerves but it doesn’t fry the brain.
