A man has been detained after he barricaded himself in a business on North First Avenue near East River Road, officials say.
On Thursday afternoon, the man walked into the business and asked for water, said Tucson police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan. He then began screaming and yelling for an unknown reason.
He eventually ran toward a woman who was sitting behind a glass cubicle. The man somehow forced his way into the cubicle, Dugan said. The remaining employees exited the building and called 911.
Police sent a rescue team inside the business and were able to get the woman out safely. None of the employees were injured.
The man barricaded himself inside the building, but has since been detained by police. No charges have been made at this time as police are still evaluating the situation.
It's unknown if the man was armed. No further information has been released.
