A 32-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when police say he lost control of his pickup truck and crash into an embankment along East Golf Links Road near East Ajo Way.

The driver of a pickup truck that crashed Sunday morning appears to have been drinking and driving erratically just before the wreck, Tucson police say.

About 9:15 Sunday morning, Richard H. Chico, 32, lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet Silverado truck on eastbound Golf Links Road just north of East Ajo Way. The truck crossed three lanes of traffic, hit the curb and slid down an embankment and hit several trees before coming to a stop, said Sgt. Pete Dugan in a news release.

Chico was partially thrown from the vehicle and police say he was not likely wearing a seat belt.

Several empty beer cans were found in the vehicle and a witness told police Chico was speeding and driving erratically just before the crash, Dugan said.
