A motorcyclist was killed Saturday when police say he ran a red light on East Fort Lowell Road at North First Avenue and crashed into a pickup truck.

Tucson police say a motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning when he ran a red light and collided with a pickup truck.

Nicholas Rollins, 34, was headed east on East Fort Lowell Road at a high rate of speed when he ran the red light and crashed into a pickup truck going north on North First Avenue, Sgt. Pete Dugan, a police spokesman, said in a news release.

Rollins died at Banner University Medical Center a short time after the 5:30 a.m. crash, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck was neither impaired nor speeding, police said.

The crash continues to be investigated.
