The Tucson Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old wanted on felony domestic violence charges, the department said Wednesday.

Police identified the male as Daniel Madrid and said he allegedly pointed a handgun at a female to prevent her from leaving. He also is accused of strangling, punching and kicking the female.

The victim had "significant" bruising and swelling, the department said in a news release.

The active warrant is for felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, strangulation and two counts of kidnapping.

Madrid is described as a 5-foot-4-inch Hispanic male, approximately 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police believe he may have access to a silver 2002 Toyota Echo without a valid license plate.

Tucson police ask anyone with information to call 9-1-1 immediately and not approach Madrid as he is considered armed and dangerous.
