A 48-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday night after running into traffic on Tucson's south side, police say.
The 48-year-old woman was trying to run across West Irvington Road, near South Sixth Avenue, about 9 p.m. when she was struck by a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck, Tucson police said in a news release.
The unnamed woman ran onto Irvington near a lighted crosswalk and witnesses told officers she tried was trying to run across the street when she was struck, the release said.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 31-year-old woman, stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with officers.
The investigation continues.
The incident marked Tucson's 14th fatal pedestrian crash this year.
