U.S. Marshals arrested the alleged gunman from an Aug. 10 shooting in Tucson without incident today, the agency said.
Dannie Hernandez, 27, was wanted for firing a handgun at his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend as he drove away from him on Tucson's south side.
Hernandez, who was on probation for domestic violence, broke into his ex-girlfriend's home while she was away and found a handgun. He then waited for her to arrive.
When she returned with her boyfriend, Hernandez confronted the man, a U.S. Marshals news release said.
Hernandez opened fire at the man's car as he drove away but the man was not injured.
On Aug. 31, Tucson Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm in the city limits and felon in possession of a firearm.
Tucson police requested assistance of the U.S. Marshals, which is leading a Southern Arizona task force to arrest violent suspects.
Hernandez was found at a trailer near Drexel and Palo Verde roads and booked into the Pima County jail.
“Domestic abuse is a tragedy in our community and Hernandez’s actions were growing more and more violent," said U.S. Marshal David Gonzales in the press release. "The partnership between the U.S. Marshal Service and the Tucson Police Department, resulted in Hernandez being quickly located and arrested ending this cycle of violence.”
