With our warm weather, affordable housing and gas prices below the national average, it's no wonder that Arizona ranks high in Wallethub's newest lest of best states in which to retire.

The main question people face when dealing with retirement is "when," but "where" can be just as important, Wallethub says.

Even in the most affordable parts of the country, most retirees can't rely exclusively on Social Security to cover all living expenses, so it's best to make your buck stretch as far as possible, according to Wallethub.

To help people find an affordable and permanent place to call home, Wallethub compared all 50 states across 41 indicators of retirement-friendliness, including affordability, health-related factors and overall quality of life.

With a total score of 60.67, Arizona came in 10th, behind states that included Florida, Colorado, Idaho and South Dakota.

The study found that Arizona has an affordability rank and quality of life rank of 21, and it stacks up at 17 on the health care rank.
