Friday's high temperature of 85 degrees was expected to make metro Tucson the warmest place to be in the contiguous 48 states, the forecast shows.

Highs in the low to mid-80s were expected Friday across the region from Nogales west to Sells and north to Marana, according to the National Weather Service in Tucson.

It means Tucson would even be warmer than Phoenix, which was likely to reach 81 degrees Friday.

The weekend will be warm too. The high in Tucson was expected to be 84 on Saturday, then drop to 76 on Sunday, the weather service says.

Temperatures are expected to stay in mid-70s through Wednesday.

Thanksgiving Day in Tucson is expected to have a high temperature of 70 degrees and a low of about 50, the forecast shows.
