Tucson's early fall heat shattered a record today, marking the latest 100-degree day in the city's 128 years of official weather records.

And according to the experts, the heat won't be letting up until next week.

Thursday afternoon's high climbed to 100 degrees. The previous record high for an October 19th was 99 set back to 1921.

Before today, the latest triple-digit heat for a year was the 100 recorded on three Oct. 16thsΒ β€” 2023, 2020 and 1991.

The National Weather Service has issued a warning as above-normal temperatures are possible through the weekend and another record-breaking day is expected on Friday.

However, the agency predicts weather to be more seasonable and cooler next week.

While temperatures will remain high through Sunday, there's a prospect on the autumn horizon of rain and increased breeziness on Monday and Tuesday.
