A strong afternoon breeze stretches a pair of flags flying last month near the intersection of South Palo Verde and Irvington roads. High winds and dust is expected across southeast Arizona Friday, the National Weather Service in Tucson says.

Blowing dust could be a problem Friday for drivers, especially to the east and southeast of Tucson, the National Weather service in Tucson says. The area around Willcox Playa in Cochise County could be especially affected, it noted.

In general, wind speeds in the region Friday could be up to 50 miles per hour, and gusts could reach up to 65 miles per hour, the weather service said Thursday.

A high wind watch will be in effect Friday from 8 a.m. through 9 p.m.
