A wildfire first spotted Thursday in the Rincon Mountains has grown to 500 acres, officials said.
The "Bolt" wildfire started Thursday and was about 75 acres early on, but quickly burned 200 acres in its first day, the Coronado National Forest Service said on Facebook Friday afternoon.
An update Saturday morning by the forest service estimated the size of thew wildfire at about 500 acres.
The wildfire is in a remote area. No structures are endangered.
Canyon Lake will be closed to visitors as helicopters will use it as a water-dipping site, officials said.Β No estimate as to when the lake will reopen was given Saturday.
For current smoke conditions officials are asking the public to visit the interactive fire and smoke map.
On Friday, ground crews worked to secure the northern and eastern flanks of the fire, while air crews dropped buckets of water along the perimeter, officials said.
Ground crews will continue to establish a containment line and reinforce helicopter work throughout Saturday, officials said.
There was no estimated containment level early Saturday. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation, officials said.
