The 50 winners of the Tucson Festival of Books Young Authors and Young Artists contests will be honored Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m. on the University of Arizona campus.

The awards ceremony will be on the Main Entertainment Stage, east of the Student Union. Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and Arizona Daily Star cartoonist David Fitzsimmons will be the keynote speakers.

Nearly 750 local boys and girls entered the writing and illustrating contests.

The Young Authors Contest will honor 26 children for their poetry and stories. Each winner receives a $50 gift card from UA BookStores, $50 gift card from Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, a writing journal, a certificate of recognition and a copy of the Young Authors and Young Artists Anthology of Winners.

The Young Authors Contest is sponsored by Altrusa International of Tucson Inc. Altrusa has a 75-year history of supporting literacy in Tucson.
