$20,000 Reward For Information On Dolphin Shot Dead In Louisiana

A $20,000 reward has been offered for information on the killing of a dolphin discovered with multiple bullet wounds in Louisiana. The dolphin was found lifeless at West Mae’s Beach, prompting an investigation by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). According to NOAA's statement, the dolphin exhibited injuries consistent with firearm shots. The Southeast Marine Mammal Stranding Hotline was notified, leading to cooperation between NOAA and the Audubon Aquarium Rescue. The deceased dolphin was transported to the Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans for a necropsy. Multiple bullets were found lodged throughout its body, including in critical areas like the brain, spinal cord and heart. The $20,000 reward is being offered for information that could lead to a criminal conviction or the imposition of a civil penalty.
